here at Portland Percussion we offer PRIVATE LESSONS in DRUMS, GUITAR and BASS GUITAR. each lesson is one on one instruction focusing on TECHNIQUE, IMPROVISATION, THEORY and MUSICIANSHIP. all lessons are based on the individual student's ability and future goals

RATES
Lessons run a half hour each and can be scheduled as single lessons ($20 each) or by tuition ($60 for 4 at $15 each). Lessons are given daily during normal business hours by appointment.

Andy Downs- guitar and bass instructor
Andy is a life long musician, playing live since 1994 in professional bands. after six years of playing in numerous California bands he returned to Maine as the lead guitarist for Brunswick based Kesera.
Andy attended the Jazz and Contemporary Music Program at the Universiy of Maine at Augusta and specializes in the styles of Metal, Rock, and Blues.


Ben Bridges- guitar and master class instructor
Ben has been playing guitar for 46 years. He studied all aspects of music at West Chester State University, Temple University, and in private lessons with prominent jazz, folk, and classical guitar teachers in the Philadelphia area. From the mid-70s to the early 90s, Ben was based in Los Angeles and made his living as a professional guitarist, songwriter, and arranger. His experience includes numerous recording sessions, and work in films, television, music festivals and multiple concert tours of the U.S., Japan, South-East Asia, Australia, and Europe. He has performed and recorded with artists such as Stevie Wonder, Sergio Mendez, Michael Sembello, Eddie Murphy, The Pointer Sisters, and others.
As a teacher, Ben's lessons are tailored to help students of any age or experience meet their playing goals with maximum efficiency. His teaching approach is to show "why" instead of just "what", and help students avoid pitfalls and plateaus while building a solid technical foundation from which to play any style of music with confidence.

Seth Rosenhek- drum instructor


Mike Sangillo- drum instructor
Mike has playing the drums for 45 years and playing professionally for 36 years. he began giving lessons to his classmates in 1970 and as the owner of Portland Percussion, has taught here for over 20 years. with students aged 6 to 60, Mike has an all around approch to drum set playing that includes limb independance, theory, technique and musicality. he has played in countless rock and country bands such as ARB, Jimson Weed, The Sharks, Sha Na Na, Mark Miller, Showdown, Bates Motel and he currently gigs around Maine with the Sofa Kings.

 

Tuition Guidlines:
Students on tuition maintain a fixed lesson schedule; where as students who elect single slots may not. Payment for all lessons must be made in advance; i.e. students on tuition are asked to pay for the entire set of 4 prior to or on the day of the 1st lesson.
ALL CANCELATIONS MUST BE MADE 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE, in order to avoid a charge. Students on tuition may be given ONE FREE makeup lesson within each set of 4. Note: advance notice is needed.
